100%

of a direct gift reaches the patient

Give directly and 100% of your donation goes to the patient, event or campaign you choose. Tell us where you would like it used by writing "Medfund" followed by the city, patient, trip or event; otherwise it goes to our general fund, where we allocate it as needed.

Gifts through Cup of Cold Water Ministries

Gifts made through Cup of Cold Water Ministries support Medfund's operations rather than one patient's bill, and are tax-deductible for US donors. If you would like a gift through them directed to a particular patient or trip, tell us and we will make the request.

What a gift covers

Real costs from our own cases. Examples, not a menu: give any amount through any of the routes on this page.

  • $25

    A round of antibiotics.

  • $50

Two months of prescription medicine for a diabetic.

  • $100

Three months of epilepsy medicine for one person.

  • $250

    Post-operative medicine for one person.

  • $500

The cost of the operation Medfund was founded over, the one a man in La Paz couldn't afford in 2014.

Want your gift to go somewhere specific?

Tell us what you would like to donate to: a patient from our stories, a mobile-clinic trip, a city, or whatever moved you. We will tell you the best way to send it and make sure it lands there.

Where the money goes

If we ask you to trust us with money for someone's care, you are owed a clear account of it.

~20,000

Cases seen and funded

as of September 2026

People seen on our medical trips, plus the patients we have fundraised for. An approximate figure from our own records.

12

Years serving Bolivia

Continuously, since Medfund was founded in La Paz in December 2014.

We publish only the figures we can check against our own records.

What "100%" actually means

When you give to a patient through Medfund directly, the full amount goes to that patient's care. We do not deduct a percentage for administration, and we do not route it into a general fund. If you give $200 for someone's surgery, $200 goes toward that surgery.

The one exception is deliberate: gifts made through Cup of Cold Water Ministries support Medfund's operations, which is what keeps the mobile clinic fuelled and the team on the road. They are tax-deductible for US donors. If you would like such a gift directed to a particular patient or trip, tell us and we will make the request.

How a direct donation travels

  1. 1

    You choose a patient

Either a specific person from our stories, or the fund for whoever needs it most urgently.

  2. 2

    Your gift is designated

It is recorded against that patient. It is not pooled, and it is not spent on anything else.

  3. 3

    We pay the provider directly

Medfund settles the bill with the hospital, clinic, or pharmacy. The money does not pass through the patient.

  4. 4

    We tell you what happened

You find out whether the treatment went ahead and how the patient is recovering.

Tax deductibility. Medfund is a program fully supported by Cup of Cold Water Ministries, a registered 501(c)(3) organization. US donors can therefore give tax deductibly through Cup of Cold Water Ministries.
